Galerie de Aanschouw - About Galerie de Aanschouw: Size Doesn’t Matter -posted on 10.08.2007- Galerie de Aanschouw is the ‘kleinste galerie van de Witte de With’ – the smallest gallery on the Witte de Withstraat, a street which is the centre of Rotterdam’s contemporary art scene. Galerie de Aanschouw, which celebrated its 6th-year anniversary on 6 July 2007, features weeklong exhibitions that open every Friday night at 8:30pm. What makes De Aanschouw the smallest and fastest gallery, not just on Witte de Withstraat, but in Rotterdam (and potentially the world)? It is a vitrine that resides on the front of Café de Schouw, its dimensions just 115 x 67 cm. Rather than restrictive, this format is expansive: Since 2001, over 300 international artists, both established and emerging, have shown at Galerie de Aanschouw. The space actually challenges artists to ‘think outside the vitrine’ and sometimes outside their own trusted media. Each year, as part of the annual Wereld van Witte de Withstraat festival of art and culture in september, an auction is held at Galerie de Aanschouw. from a drawing by a child to fine art - ArtKids (our own artist!) makes paintings (and other works of art) inspired through drawings (spontaneous scratches) of children. Usually we see the children grow about two feet, when they see their painting (made by our artist Tamara), and the parents use to be surprised to discover that they have an artist in the family. This tells we build up the self-confidence of children. Since most people have been a child, of have children around, there is a good possibility to use the ArtKids-concept in PR-campaigns, educational projects, trainings, relation marketing, special and personal gifts and even for charity projects.
